A self-flashing frame skylight installation has fewer steps and so it is considered to be easier than a curb mount installation. This is because there is no need to build and flash a wood curb. Self-flashing frames are designed similar to other flashing products that are mounted to the roof deck. The frame is shaped as a capitol letter L. It has a vertical leg that comes off of an intersecting flat flange that mounts to the roof deck. See installation instructions for complete details.
